Democrats, the party that stands against racism — unless they don’t like someone, or it’s just convenient to be racist. A Texas Democrat official ha resigned one week after hurling a racist slur at black Republican Tim Scott.

Lamar County Democratic Party chair Gary O’Connor drew fire from all sides last week when he, in a now-deleted Facebook post, called Scott an “oreo,” a slur that references a black person who acts in a way people perceive as “white.”

“I had hoped that Scott might show some common sense, but it seems clear he is little more than an oreo with no real principles,”  O’Connor, who is white, said in the post.

The Republican Party has a good sense of humor, though. Texas Republican Party Chairman Allen West says he will be sending a “gift” of Oreo cookies to the Democrats until the Democrat racist resigns.

Fortunately, he won’t have to send many cookies, as a resignation has happened. “I am deeply and sincerely sorry for my inappropriate and hurtful use of racist term I used to describe Sen. Tim Scott on my personal Facebook page,” O’Connor said in a statement accompanying his resignation. “It was insensitive, and I have embarrassed myself and my party by its use.”

“As a result, I feel compelled to offer my resignation as chair of the Lamar County Democratic Party for consideration by the County Executive Committee,” he added. Previously, Democrats have labeled Scott “Uncle Tim,” a play on the slur “Uncle Tom.”

Democrats call us racists, but every single time they reveal that such allegations are simply projection.
