(RepublicanWire.org) – During congressional hearings focused on the Biden border disaster, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas indicated that the Biden administration was considering diverting resources from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to help illegal immigrants if and when the Title 42 controls ended.

Title 42 expulsions are removals by the U.S. government of persons who have recently been in a country where a communicable disease was present. Biden has slated to end them on May 23.

Republicans are slamming the administration for this proposal.

…Several representatives have sent a letter to Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas about the ‘mishandling’ of the border and called the possible usage of VA personnel at the border ‘deeply troubling’ as it is already hard for veterans to see doctors.

‘Moving VA medical staff away from our veteran’s healthcare needs to examine illegal immigrants is a recipe for disaster,’ the letter, written by Georgia Representative Jody Hice, said. ‘Wait times for a veteran to see their doctor can average 22 days and reach as high as 42 days. This is unacceptable mismanagement of federal government resources by the Biden administration.

‘Biden’s failed open border policies are no excuse to funnel resources away from our veterans. Our men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our liberties and our country’s sovereignty deserve the best resources for their health care needs.

‘The Biden Administration must provide the American people answers. Even the thought of abandoning our veterans’ care for the needs of illegal aliens is disgraceful.’

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, says he still hasn’t received an answer from Biden on these plans.

In his letter, Cruz urged the president “to secure our Southern border and immediately renew Title 42,” a public health authority that’s allowed federal agents to quickly expel illegal immigrants during a public health emergency. The Biden administration announced it was ending it May 23. Unless halted by the courts, border officials say ending Title 42 will result in roughly 18,000 people rushing the southern border a day, overwhelming Border Patrol agents and local law enforcement as a result.

“The Department of Homeland Security has been considering potential strategies for dealing with the anticipated influx of migrants when CBP’s Title 42 authority is revoked,” Cruz said in a statement. “Reportedly, one such strategy, according to a source from within CBP, includes diverting VA medical personnel and deploying them to the border. The CBP source went on to say ‘we’re going to take medical services away from people … who went to combat … to give free medical attention to illegal migrants.’”

This “is completely unacceptable,” Cruz said.

Congresswoman Mary Miller (R-IL) sent a letter yo Biden’s Veterans Affairs Secretary asking if any resources from the VA will be diverted from serving our nation’s veterans to deal with the crisis Biden has created on our southern border.

“We need to ensure that no money that was set aside to help our veterans is being diverted to the southern border,” Miller said. “VA resources should be used for our veterans, not to manage President Biden’s self-created crisis at the southern border. Instead of depriving our nation’s heroes of resources, the Biden administration should reinstate the effective border security policies of the Trump administration and complete construction of the border wall.”

(RepublicanWire.org) – The White House and President Joe Biden face scrutiny over millions of dollars worth of government contracts and loans going to prominent Democratic donors.

According to a group of House Republicans requesting more information about the White house’s process for awarding contracts, the Biden administration has maintained a habit of doling out taxpayer money to businesses associated with donors.

A letter to GOP members of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform sent to White House Office read, “Awarding lucrative government contracts to companies led by large Democratic donors is becoming a troubling Biden Administration pattern and raises questions about whether political contributions play a role in the decision to award federal taxpayer dollars.”

Much of the letter’s focus centers on Joe Kiani, the founder, and CEO of a company called Masimo. Kiani was appointed to the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology last September and has donated nearly $3 million to Biden and Democratic-aligned groups. His company has received close to $3 million in federal government contracts since January 2021 from agencies including the Department of Defense, Department of Health and Human Services, and Department of Veterans Affairs.

Masimo received government contracts in previous presidential administrations but is on the path to exceeding that amount under Biden with Kiani now also serving on a White House board.

“Kiani has given more money to support President Biden than most Americans dream of having in their lifetimes,” South Carolina Rep. Ralph Norman said in a statement. “I’m determined to ensure this administration is not leveraging kickbacks in return for campaign financing.”

The letter also brought attention to Lukas Walton, the billionaire grandson of Walmart founder Sam Walton. Walton owns 4.9% of a solar firm that received a $500 million loan from the International Development Finance Institution. Walton donated $300,000 to Biden’s 2020 campaign and $100,000 to the Democratic National Committee in 2020.

A source with the Oversight and Reform Committee Republicans said there wasn’t any evidence the contracts were no-bid.

However, conservative groups touted the moves and said the call is more than warranted.

“Between his personnel appointments, ambassador picks, and his administration’s suspicious government contracts, it is clear that Biden is rewarding his supporters with taxpayer money,” said Heritage Action spokeswoman Carson Steelman. “Biden’s moves represent the worst of the Washington swamp, and Congress is right to demand more transparency and accountability on behalf of the American people.”

(RepublicanWire.org) – Republican chief legal officers in more than a dozen states are urging President Joe Biden to reconsider his halting of the Keystone XL Pipeline and are criticizing the “hypocrisy” of the U.S. now potentially importing Canadian oil.

On his first day in office, Biden revoked the permit for a $9 billion pipeline designed to transport hundreds of thousands of oil barrels from Alberta, Canada, to the United States. Now, Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen is leading the charge to reinstate it.

“We warned you then if your decision was not reversed, Americans would ‘suffer serious detrimental consequences,’ consumers would pay higher prices, and our allies would become further dependent on Russian and Middle Eastern oil.”

Biden’s cancellation of the 1,200-mile pipeline reportedly killed thousands of jobs, and Republicans wrote to the administration in February demanding to know how many. Knudsen and 20 other Republican attorneys general filed a lawsuit last year against Biden alleging he exceeded his authority by nixing the pipeline.

The letter comes amid record-high gas prices and 40-year high inflation that has put a strain on American families. The Producer Price Index, an inflation measurement for wholesale producers, spiked 11.2% annually from March 2021 to March 2022. The Consumer Price Index, which tracks consumer inflation, reached its highest level in 41 years only a day before these numbers were released.

“We’re seeing 50 plus percent increases in the price of gasoline,” Knudsen stated. “I don’t care if you’re in Montana or if you’re in Virginia. Everybody bears that cost and that hurts. Fuel is what drives our economy and we have to be able to drive our vehicles. We have to be able to heat our homes.”

The Republicans say European countries are now “unable” to levy sanctions on Russia amid its invasion of Ukraine without risking an economic recession and blast the president for a potentially contradictory decision to now import oil from Canada. The letter notes that the pipeline would have provided the same oil.

TC Energy, the company overseeing the pipeline, filed a $15 billion trade claim against Biden last year seeking damages from the U.S. government. The formal request for arbitration was submitted under an alleged “breach” of the legacy North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

(RepublicanWire.org) – Progressives can’t defend their ideas in an open debate. They also can’t honestly explain away the horrible results of their policies.

That is why leftists rely on censorship to advance their agendas. Blocking opposing voices means no debate happens before or during their actions, and there is no accountability for their failures afterward.

The internet is the new public square, and Big Tech colludes to quash free speech.

Now, however, free speech advocate Elon Musk seems intent on changing that. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO became Twitter’s largest stockholder on April 4 when he bought 9.2 percent of the social media giant — and he has positioned himself to go much further.

Unsurprisingly, the company’s embedded progressive employees are melting down at even the possibility that more liberty might invade their “safe space.”

Before Musk’s purchase, he created a Twitter poll on March 25 that could be seen as a shot across the bow.

“Free speech is essential to a functioning democracy,” he said. “Do you believe Twitter rigorously adheres to this principle?”

More than 2 million people responded, and 70.4 percent indicated Twitter was a communications platform that was unprincipled about communication. That’s an organization in need of reform.

Of course the partisans of the censorious status quo feel threatened.

As reported Monday by Bloomberg, a director from Twitter’s AI research team, Rumman Chowdhury, tweeted, “Musk’s immediate chilling effect was something that bothered me significantly.”

The Twitter board tried to corral the company’s new largest shareholder by getting Musk to join the board of directors. CEO Parag Agrawal announced it on April 5 as if it were a done deal.

Being a board member would have limited Musk to owning 14.9 percent of the company’s stock — and might have encouraged him to tone down his public criticisms.

Instead, Musk turned down the board membership, giving him flexibility for further actions, even those that confront the existing corporate culture.

That gave Twitter’s disgruntled employees even more to worry about. Musk is known for erratic behavior and has enough money not to worry about consequences.

Musk sent a series of now-deleted tweets that seemed designed to troll the concerned workers. He mused about turning the corporate headquarters into a homeless shelter and shaking up the way authentication checkmarks are awarded, and even made a crude joke about removing the W from the brand name, according to The Washington Post.

He could force his ideas onto the company by increasing his stock ownership or aligning with other unhappy shareholders.

Bloomberg described Twitter staffers as “super stressed” with some saying they were “working together to help each other get through the week.”

I think it’s hilarious. They are afraid of losing the usurped power they held over society. Twitter manipulates narratives instead of supporting open dialogue.

Twitter abused the public trust. It took an active part in blocking honest discussions about COVID-19, the 2020 election, political class corruption and so much more. It censored the president of the United States. The platform needs a major overhaul.

It remains to be seen if there is even enough left to salvage. On Saturday, Musk himself wondered if Twitter was dying based on the low activity on major accounts.

This year, Trump Media and Technology Group, whose chairman is former President Donald Trump, launched a competing platform, TRUTH Social. Its CEO, former GOP Rep. Devin Nunes, described Twitter as “a ghost town” and observed, “Once you get rid of the bots and the trolls, you really have a house of cards.”

Twitter employees are worried Musk might prevent them from acting as the Thought Police. Time will tell if he is serious about making it a responsible, neutral platform again.

(RepublicanWire.org) – Whether you refer to it as “feelings over facts,” “pushing a narrative” or “doublespeak,” progressives are constantly reminding us that their actions are of little consequence and what matters is how those actions are perceived.

Valerie Biden Owens, younger sister to President Joe Biden, is reported to demonstrate this premise in her new memoir, “Growing Up Biden: A Memoir,” where, in addition to discussing her career as a political strategist, her role as chair of the University of Delaware’s Biden Institute and her influences to her brother’s policies, she attempts to argue that Democrats, not Republicans, are the “pro-life” party.

In advance of the book’s Tuesday release, Fox News Digital acquired a copy of the memoir and revealed Owens’ stance on the unfortunate language choice that her party had settled on regarding the issue of abortion.

“Like many women,” Owens wrote, “I harbored complicated feelings on the topic. I’m pro-choice, but I remain convinced that Democrats chose the wrong term for our side of the issue.”

“We should have been pro-life,” she argued, “for we are the ones advocating for a better life, a life in which a mother gets to determine her future and that of her child.”

In support of her claim, Owens went on to state that, “Sometimes, I even accidentally say I’m pro-life, because that’s what it feels like the pro-choice position should have been called.”

Despite how Owens reports she feels, her own language negates her opinion. The pro-choice crowd do not contend that the unborn are, as she herself put it, a child. The sterile terminology of “fetus” is always preferred as the clinical connotation detaches the genuine pro-life argument that abortion is murder.

For Owens to suddenly argue that ending the life of a child would be “advocating for a better life” for that child would readily be considered inhumane and barbaric, and yet she stands by her statement.

Meanwhile, according to a poll conducted by the Wall Street Journal, those in favor of bans on abortion beyond 15-weeks of pregnancy outweigh the opposition to such restrictions.

48 percent, in fact, say they would strongly support or somewhat favor such a ban while on 43 percent would oppose this type of abortion restriction. As Owens presented the issue as a partisan one, it is crucial to note that the poll found only 21 percent of Democrats favored a ban on abortion after 15 weeks.

75 percent of Republicans favor enforcing this level of prohibition.

Considering the Biden Institute’s focus includes promoting progressive ideologies like economic and social justice, it’s no wonder that the chair is so far removed from the reality of her opinions that tend to center around shifting personal responsibility off onto someone else.

Owens did exactly that in defending her nephew Hunter Biden in her memoir where she portrays him as a guiltless victim. She also blames all of her brother’s recent failings on former President Donald Trump and his supporters writing, “Trump and his right-wing followers have continued to do whatever they can to discredit the family and therefore to bring Joe down.”

(RepublicanWire.org) – California Democrats have proposed legislation that would mandate a four-day workweek for large companies.

A bill put forward by Democratic state Reps. Cristina Garcia and Evan Low would require companies with 500 employees or more to change the definition of a work week from 40 hours to 32 hours. The bill, AB 2932, would mandate that employees receive the same level of compensation for working four eight-hour days as they would for a regular five-day, 40-hour work week.

Any employee required to work more than 32 hours would have to be compensated with overtime pay. Hours worked in excess of 32 hours would be compensated with time-and-a-half paym while overtime work over 40 hours would require double pay by law.

The legislation would effectively force employers to give workers a raise because it prohibits reduced pay for the fewer hours worked. According to the state’s Employment Development Department, more than 2,600 California companies and more than 3.6 million workers would be impacted by the bill.

There is an exemption, however, for companies that have a collective bargaining agreement with workers — meaning large companies with unionized employees can keep the standard 40-hour work week. It is unclear how the legislation would impact salaried employees.

Similar legislation has been introduced at the federal level by U.S. Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.).

Garcia, one of the state bill’s sponsors, told the Los Angeles Times that the COVID-19 pandemic has created an opportunity for Americans to rethink what work should look like. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 47 million Americans quit their jobs in 2021, and many transitioned to working from home during the pandemic.

“We’ve had a five-day workweek since the Industrial Revolution,” Garcia said, “but we’ve had a lot of progress in society, and we’ve had a lot of advancements. I think the pandemic right now allows us the opportunity to rethink things, to re-imagine things.”

Democrats claim that a 32-hour work week would actually increase productivity and profits, citing pilot programs at companies like Kickstarter as evidence the idea could work. They also point to case studies from Iceland that found companies that reduced their work week to 35 or 36 hours maintained the same level of productivity and service while workers reported being happier.

“The fact of the matter is many other companies are already doing this, and other countries too, so I think this is the direction we’re going,” co-sponsor Low said.

The California Chamber of Commerce is firmly opposed to the legislation, calling it a “job killer.”

Ashley Hoffman, policy advocate for the California Chamber of Commerce, wrote in a letter to Low that the bill “imposes a tremendous cost on employers and includes provisions that are impossible to comply with.”

She estimated that the bill would impose a minimum 10% increase in wages per employee per week, which she said would be unsustainable for many businesses.

“Such a large increase in labor costs will reduce businesses’ ability to hire or create new positions and will therefore limit job growth in California,” Hoffman said. “This is especially true now as businesses are still recovering from the impacts of COVID-19 and resulting rises in supply chain costs.”

Hoffman also noted that an unintended consequence of the bill could be a reduction in hours for workers.

AB 2932 will be considered by the state Labor and Employment Committee before it advances in the legislature.

(RepublicanWire.org) – A “Meet the Press” panel warned Sunday that the Democrats’ current messaging on the “culture wars” will cause a “real problem” for the party in the midterm elections.

The hosts discussed a range of social policy issues they said the Democrats have poorly messaged to their base as they near the midterm elections. Former Republican Florida Rep. Carlos Curbelo told host Chuck Todd that Republicans are currently leading the way surrounding the culture wars.

“Right now, Republicans are winning the culture wars in this country, that’s just the way it is,” he said. “You look at ‘defund the police’, you look at ‘defund ICE’, now in Florida you have this parental empowerment bill, the opponents call it the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill.’ Republicans have basically baited Democrats in Florida into taking a position that students in K-3, students who are learning to color and read and write, should be taught about sexuality, about gender identity.”

He went on to say that Democrats have “consistently been … on the wrong side” of the issues and will lead Republicans to run on these issues.

Kimberly Atkins Stohr, senior opinion writer for the Boston Globe, said Democrats have been silent on opposing Florida’s recently passed “Parental Rights in Education” bill for penalizing people on what they say, which could ultimately help strengthen their base.

“It’s been astonishing to me that the Democrats haven’t grabbed onto a libertarian attack on this because this is big government telling people what to do,” Todd chimed in. “This is government saying they want to decide, they want to know what your kid’s gender is. Like … get out of my kid’s bedroom.”

The Republican-backed bill forbids classroom discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity in grades K-3 and requires school districts to notify parents of changes to their child’s physical, mental or emotional health and allow for them to opt their child out of health services provided by the school.

NBC News correspondent Josh Lederman said Democrats have allowed their base to be “defined by the other side” and have been silent on cultural issues.

“If you were to ask the average parent of a 1st grader ‘do you want your kid to be taught about sex in 1st grade?’ Lederman said.  “Most parents would probably say ‘eh, probably not.’ But if you ask ‘is it okay for your kid to be read a book about Peter the penguin who has two penguin dads?’ You’re not going to have the same kind of response. But Democrats have sort of ceded the argument on this, on so many of these cultural issues.”

Anna Palmer, founder of Punchbowl News, said Democrats are “on their heels” surrounding the issues of abortion, schools, and COVID and have not created an “animating slogan” to message on these issues.

“We haven’t been able to see Democrats mobilize on this,” she said. “I do think if it totally goes away, you’re gonna see Democrats try to find a way to get their base out to the polls. Right now, they have not done anything on voter rights, immigration, all these other things. There’s a real issue here for Democrats in the midterms.”

Curbelo said the lack of messaging from the Democratic Party’s messaging is “disconnected” from the majority of voters on policy issues, leading them to lose Hispanic and working class voters.

Democrats have been losing their base with Hispanic voters after decades of holding their widespread support. In Texas, four Hispanic women have already won their respective Republican primaries, with three potentially becoming the first Hispanic women and first Republicans to represent South Texas in Congress. A December poll found that Democrats and Republicans hold equal numbers of support among Hispanics.

(RepublicanWire.org) – Amidst all of the news surrounding the retirement of United States Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, President Joe Biden made sure that his White House Press Secretary, Jen Psaki, delivered a threat to Republicans.

You can watch the video below.

The message he wanted to be emphasized? Don’t play games with whoever he names as his nominee to the Supreme Court.

According to Psaki:

“We should be clear about some of the games that we’re already seeing indications of out there. We have not mentioned a single name. We have not put out a list. The president made it very clear he has not made a selection. If anyone is saying they plan to characterize whoever he nominates after thorough consideration with both parties as radical, before they know literally anything about who she is, they just obliterated their own credibility. So, our intention is to not play games. The president’s intention is to consult with members of both parties. And, his intention is to nominate a qualified candidate after completing a rigorous process who’s worthy of the excellence and decency of Breyer’s legacy.”

(RepublicanWire.org) – The vote to stop the Democrats from destroying the filibuster was a massive victory for freedom and the integrity of the American voting process. The liberal left wanted to tear down the one they used to grab hold of when the Republicans held the Senate. But now, they see it as a hurdle in their conquest for domination of the country. Their attempt to subdue the country is blatantly before them, and they are blind to the fact that the people are telling them to back off.

But the Republicans and two of the Democrats voted against the filibuster removal. The Democrats want to remove the barrier to pass what they are calling voter reform. The big lie they are telling the people is that all conservative election laws are oppressive and keep people from voting. But the truth is that they want to institute measures that will allow them to nullify all votes because they intend on cheating and committing fraud within the system to get what they want.

The liberals want people to believe that minorities are not allowed to vote. They believe that showing identification to prove one’s identity keeps people from voting. But the truth is that the liberals want illegals to be able to vote without having to prove they are legal voters.

All Americans have the right to vote in elections if they are legal residents. The notion that people are being kept from voting is nothing but a big lie being promoted by the liberals. They want to take the country back to when women were not allowed to vote. It is the same old story of oppression and suppression. But the truth is that the country is not in those darks days but has risen to the point where everyone can vote.

Rand Paul noted how absurd what the Democrats are saying about things. He noted that “[They] want to change the law so people don’t have to show identification to vote by mail so they can harvest the ballots of Democrats at the expense of the rest of the public. It’s all about power politics, and it’s shameless.”

The Democrats want to put any person in any position that they want to by being able to flood the ballot box with illegal and fake ballots.

The president likes to stir up discord with people so his people can try to make their case regarding voter suppression. No law or barrier keeps people from voting in America. They need to show their identification. They must be able to prove that they are legal citizens.

Paul pointed out something the media or the liberals would never report about: the massive voter turnout in the past elections. He stated, “They found that African-Americans voted in a percentage equal to [that of] whites or higher than whites in Alabama, Mississippi, or South Carolina. In 2020 more people voted than have ever voted as far as a percentage of our population, so everything they’re saying is a lie.”

And that is not the only thing that the Democrats are lying about. When Donald Trump was president and the Senate was controlled by the Republicans, the Democrats would have died to hold onto the filibuster. And the fact that they want to get rid of it now to pass voter reform that would allow them to cheat at elections is horrible. They do not care about the people because all they want is money and power.

The Democrats will stop at nothing to get what they want. They know that their time is concise because the House will fall back into Republican control. And the consequences of their demonic actions will be a loss of seats in the very chamber they think they control. And once that happens, all the hopes and dreams that the liberals have for America will dry up because they are going to have to come and face the voters. The country is not as dumb as the liberals think they are.
