(RepublicanWire.org) – Yesterday, The New York Times filed a lawsuit that will surely stun you. After claiming the Hunter Biden laptop scandal was “unsubstantiated,” the liberal newspaper has done a complete about-face. They will be suing the State Department for access to emails that mention the President’s embattled son, Hunter.

As you may know, Hunter has been the subject of intense scrutiny. Leading up to the 2020 election, Republican lawmakers and pundits noticed the perplexing business dealings of then Presidential Candidate Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden. Hunter Biden was then employed by the Ukrainian energy company Burisma. Hunter Biden, whose resume would not indicate any aptitude for this kind of work, was pressed considerably by notable Republicans –including Donald Trump himself. Trump mentioned the incident in his notorious call with Ukrainian President Zelensky– partially leading to his first impeachment. We may never know pervasively and fully what went on in Ukraine. But many have speculated it was nothing good. After a laptop allegedly belonging to Hunter Biden became available to the public in 2020 through the New York Post, many assumed that the timing of the release and the corresponding emails present on the machine entailed that it was Russian disinformation. Nearly a year later in 2021, Politico vindicated the emails as legitimate. The New York Times was one of the outlets that questioned these emails’ substantive character, a move they have quietly distanced themselves from.

Resultantly, you might expect the New York Times to leave this story behind. However, that has not been the case. It appears the New York Times has enough interest in what really happened to file a lawsuit against the State Department. The jurisdiction of this lawsuit is over emails that make mention of Hunter Biden.

As Politico reports, the lawsuit covers emails sent by Embassy officials in Romania during the period covering 2015 to 2019. The request also concerns Hunter’s former business compatriot Tony Bobulinksi. Former Trump Lawyer and New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani is also mentioned in the request. The New York Times is utilizing the Freedom of Information Act as the basis of their inquiry. They are suing the State Department over a perceived delay in releasing these files, which they requested back in December of 2021, with an estimated date of reception of April 15, 2023.

It remains to be seen what the inquiry will reveal. While the motives of the request are not completely clear, the American public will surely be interested in the findings.
