(RepublicanWire.org) – They are out for blood.

Despite opposition from other Democratic members, Democratic Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri has refused to reverse her stance on the “defund the police” slogan.

Speaking to Axios on Tuesday, Bush said, “I always tell [fellow Democrats], ‘If you all had fixed this before I got here, I wouldn’t have to say these things.’”

She continued saying that it was up to Democrats to do a better job at explaining to voters what the “defund the police” stance meant, stating that some of the funds would be better spent on preventive social services.

The progressive Missouri Democrat also rejected the idea that “defund the police” would be responsible for an election loss for Democrats, saying the movement was “not the problem,” rather, the blame would be on the party’s inability to implement promises made during the election campaigns.

“We dangled the carrot in front of people’s faces and said we can get it done and that Democrats deliver when we haven’t totally delivered,” Bush said.

Bush’s remarks come as the midterms approach, with more Democrats showing concern that the “defund the police” rhetoric could lead to disappointing results, similar to what the party experienced in the 2020 election.

The rhetoric surrounding defunding the police –– that gained popularity after the George Floyd protests –– has also lost significant support within the party as numerous Democrats distance themselves from the movement.

The stance is also less popular given that violent crime has increased significantly, as a Council on Criminal Justice Study revealed that murders rose 5% last year and are up 44% since 2019.

Democratic Rep. Karen Bass of California, who is running for mayor of Los Angeles, revealed that she planned to increase the city’s police, acknowledging that residents of Los Angeles “don’t feel safe” and vowing to restore the city to its 9,700 authorized officers.

Bass went on to say that the countless acts of crime –– stolen property, property damage, vehicle theft, house robberies, violent assaults –– that had affected many of those in the city created a general feeling of fear.

But, Bush is seemingly undeterred by her fellow Democrats voicing concerns about crime. Instead, during the interview, she pointed to the little progress the party made on police reform bills.

Discussing the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act –– which some in the party have considered using a piecemeal approach to implement –– Bush said, “If we couldn’t get George Floyd done back when millions of people were marching in the street, then how do we expect to get more than one thing done [on policing] over the next few years?”

The Left won. The officer who was unfortunate enough to be restraining George Floyd when he died was convicted of “murder.” Sure, it’s nonsense. Sure, Floyd had enough drugs in his body to kill him multiple times, Sure, he was resisting arrest. But none of that matters to BLM and Antifa, who staged multiple nationwide riots. Buildings were burned. People were hurt and killed. And parts of some cities like Portland and Minnesota fell under armed BLM/Antifa occupation as “autonomous zones” where laws don’t exist. At one of these zones, on the anniversary of George Floyd’s death, gunshots rang out.

News Nation Now reports that someone in the area surrounding where George Floyd died was “disrupted by gunfire” just before crowds of people were due to show up to show support to Floyd:

Philip Crowther, a reporter working for AP Global Media Services, which provides live video coverage to customers, reported hearing as many as 30 gunshots about a block east of the intersection. Crowther said a storefront window appeared to have been broken by a gunshot.

“Very quickly things got back to normal,” Crowther said. “People here who spend a significant amount of time, the organizers, were running around asking, ‘Does anyone need a medic?’ It seems like there are no injuries.”

Police said in a release that they responded to reports of gunfire at about 10:10 a.m. local time in the 3800 block of Elliot Ave. South. Callers told police that a vehicle was seen speeding away from the area. Elder said no one was in custody by midday Tuesday.

Photos taken after the shots fired show broken windows outside a barbershop as people tried to clean up the shattered glass.

The scene was terrifying. In video, you can see the crowd scatter and duck for cover as people run away from the gunfire. It’s a scene normally seen on the news, happening in a country very far from ours. But thanks to BLM and Antifa’s riots, we get to experience something out of the socialist third world right at home. Watch it below:

If there’s one thing we know about Democrats, it’s that they are never willing to waste a dead black body. Derek Chauvin was recently convicted on all charges in the death of George Floyd. Before Floyd’s body was even cold, the Left mobilized, burning and looting cities and attacking police and others who just want to go about their lives without the threat of a violent mob murdering them or destroying their property. Floyd’s unfortunate death in police custody has been used over and over by Democrats to push the “Defund the Police” movement and numerous other agendas. After the verdict came in, Pelosi continued that tradition.

“Thank you, George Floyd, for sacrificing your life for justice,” Pelosi said at a presser. “For being there to call out to your mom, how heartbreaking was that?”

“And because of you,” she added, “your name will always be synonymous with justice.”

She literally thanked George Floyd for apparently giving his life for her agenda. While it could be said that the lethal amount of drugs in Floyd’s system deserve all the “thanks” there, Pelosi once again showed that, to Democrats, “Black Lives Matter” are just words.

Pelosi’s ridiculous and heartless words drew criticism from the Left, who usually jump on board whenever she says anything at all.

The backlash was so swift, so brutal, that Pelosi was forced to do some damage control. She later tweeted, clarifying that she thinks George Floyd should be alive.

“George Floyd should be alive today. His family’s calls for justice for his murder were heard around the world. He did not die in vain,” she said before once again using him posthumously to support her agenda. “We must make sure other families don’t suffer the same racism, violence & pain, and we must enact the George Floyd #JusticeInPolicing Act.”

Democrats will continue to use black lives to push their socialist and extremist agenda. Black folks are and have always been political pawns to them. The good news is that African-Americans can now see Democrats for who they are. And who they are is terrible.

Black Lives Matter and Antifa have threatened to burn cities to the ground if Officer Derek Chauvin is not convicted of murder in the George Floyd case. Now, it’s looking almost certain that Chauvin will be exonerated of the charges against him — especially after a new piece of evidence makes it crystal clear that Floyd did indeed do a bunch of drugs, which contributed to his death more than Chauvin ever could.

Floyd passed away while he was being restrained by Chauvin, who has been unfairly demonized in the media and accused of murder. Leftists have rioted nationwide, ripping apart and burning black communities to the ground as they demand justice for George Floyd, who died of “cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law-enforcement subdual restraint, and neck compression” during the struggle. He also had a boatload of drugs in his system, which likely contributed to the heart attack.

At Chauvin’s trial, the former police officer’s lawyer played a video that features Floyd clearly stating that there were a lot of drugs in his system. “I ate too many drugs,” Floyd says in the video, which was presented during cross examination of Los Angeles Police Sgt. Jody Stiger, who says  “no force should have been used.” It should be noted that she is a paid witness for the prosecution.

Defense attorney Eric J. Nelson reminded the court that Floyd was shouting “I can’t breathe” — a tagline of BLM — before Chauvin’s knee was anywhere close to his neck.

“If somebody is saying, ‘I can’t breathe,’ and they’re passing out and they’re not resisting, that’s one form of an analysis, right, because the actions of the suspect are consistent with the verbal utterances he’s making, right?” Nelson asked. “Other times and in this particular case, when Mr. Floyd was initially saying that he couldn’t breathe, he was actively resisting arrest initially when he was in the back seat of the vehicle, right?” He says the officers’ actions were necessary “when the futility of the three officers continuing their efforts forcibly to seat Floyd in the squad’s back seat became clear.”

Mr. “I ate too many drugs” had consumed a fatal amount of methamphetamine and fentanyl according to an autopsy. It wasn’t what technically killed him, but “Fatal” means it would have.

“This is what’s called a Speedball – a mixture of an opioid and a stimulant,” Nelson said early in the trial. “The evidence will show that Mr. Floyd died of a cardiac arrhythmia that occurred a result of hypertension, his coronary disease, ingestion of methamphetamine and fentanyl, and the adrenaline flowing through his body.”
