fake news

A new Rasmussen poll reveals that Americans overwhelmingly agree with President Trump that the liberal, mainstream media is the “Enemy of the People.” President Trump has repeatedly identified and condemned the lies, conspiracy theories, and hatred spread by the media, who attempt to demonize conservatives and our ideals.

The poll asked respondents if they agree that the media is “truly the enemy of the people” as President Trump has suggested. While leftists might disagree, most Americans said that they at least “somewhat agree.” Via Rasmussen:

Voters overwhelmingly believe “fake news” is a problem, and a majority agree with former President Donald Trump that the media have become “the enemy of the people.”

A new national telephone and online survey by Rasmussen Reports finds that 58% of Likely U.S. Voters at least somewhat agree that the media are “truly the enemy of the people,” including 34% who Strongly Agree. Thirty-six percent (36%) don’t agree, including 23% who Strongly Disagree. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Only 46 percent disagreed with the President. And independents” An astounding 61 percent agree with Trump. While Democrats were more likely to side against President Trump, only 56 percent of Democrats say they “trust” the news they receive. This number is not very different from the 58 percent of Republicans who say the same.

Americans are united on the media being untrustworthy, but not with the problem of fake news. Democrats claimed that Republicans buying into fake news was a major problem in 2016, yet only 83 percent say that fake news is a serious problem. A whopping 92 percent of Republicans say the same.

This poll reveals that regardless of political ideology, Americans don’t trust the media at all. This is a major problem because we depend on them to provide us with unbiased truth. But the fact is that we can’t trust the media. Period.
