(RepublicanWire.org) – Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that his wife, First Lady Casey DeSantis, saying she is now cancer free after undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

“I have a positive update about my wife Casey DeSantis. After going through both treatment and surgery for breast cancer, she is now considered cancer free,” DeSantis said in a video posted to social media. “All of you who have had thoughts and prayers that have been given to my family and my wife, thank you for doing that. It’s lifted her spirits and made a tremendous difference.”

“For all the women out there who are going through breast cancer right now – you can overcome this,” DeSantis continued. “I know it’s very difficult, but my wife is proof positive, and this is the exact type of news we had hoped for. She still has more to do, but I’m confident she’s going to make a full recovery. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. God bless you all.”

Florida’s first lady also took to social media to deliver a brief statement.

“There are no words to express how truly blessed, grateful and humbled I am to hear the words cancer free. To those who are in the fight, know there is hope,” Casey DeSantis said. “Have faith and stay strong,” she added.

Gov. DeSantis’ office detailed four major initiatives that Casey DeSantis has led since he was elected:

Most recently, First Lady DeSantis spearheaded Hope Florida – A Pathway to Prosperity, Economic Self-Sufficiency and Hope. Implemented through the Department of Children and Families, this initiative is uniting communities through ‘Care Navigators’ who guide Floridians on an individualized path to prosperity by focusing on collaboration between the private sector, faith-based community, nonprofits and government entities – breaking down traditional community silos in an effort to maximize resources and uncover opportunities.

Beneficiaries of this initiative include, but are not limited to, single parents, Floridians on government assistance, mothers contending with substance abuse disorders, and children aging out of the foster care system. Any Floridian can learn more about connecting with a Pathway to Prosperity ‘Care Navigator’ by visiting HopeFlorida.com or by calling 850-300-HOPE.

In February of 2021, First Lady DeSantis launched the Resiliency Florida initiative – a partnership with professional sports teams and athletes – including Tom Brady, David Beckham, Peyton Manning, Lou Holtz, Tony Dungy, Urban Meyer, Crystal Thomas, Ali Marpet, Bryant McFadden, Mark Richt, Twan Russell, Corey Simon, Tra Thomas, Jonathan Vilma, Charlie Ward, Tyler Johnson, Joey Logano, Brandon Lowe, and Chris Mueller – to address the stigma surrounding mental health. These teams and athletes are lending their voices and personal stories of resilience and hope to empower Florida students to persevere through adversity.

As a part of this initiative, First Lady DeSantis is working with Volunteer Florida and the Florida Department of Education on the Hope Ambassadors program – a network of over 100 middle and high school clubs encouraging a campus culture of kindness and empathy through peer-to-peer mentoring and volunteerism.

Additionally, to support the Resiliency Florida initiative, First Lady DeSantis worked with the Department of Education to develop Character Education Standards to be taught in Florida’s K-12 schools. Passed unanimously by the State Board of Education in July of 2021, these are Florida’s first standards for Character Education, setting clear expectations for students and teachers and providing opportunities for students to learn how character contributes to the overall civic health of a society and understand the importance of resiliency, responsibility, and respect.

In December of 2019, First Lady DeSantis launched “The Facts. Your Future.” campaign – a public affairs partnership between the Office of the Attorney General, the Florida Department of Health, and the Florida Department of Education. This initiative empowers students with the facts surrounding substance abuse and how it negatively impacts their lives. A major announcement and new developments on this initiative are expected later this year.

First Lady DeSantis’ first major announcement was the Hope for Healing Florida initiative in May of 2019, which brought together stakeholders statewide to discuss new community-level solutions to address mental illness and substance abuse with emphasis on resources for children, veterans and first responders. The Hope for Healing website helps navigate the many ways Floridians can access available resources.

(RepublicanWire.org) – Democrats just got more bad news as they head into the 2022 midterms and 2024 presidential elections.

The Republican Party has taken the edge and made Florida a strong red state, which could have devastating consequences for Democrats.

Voter registration data collected by the state and shared with POLITICO shows that there are now 6,035 more voters registered as Republicans than Democrats out of 14.3 million active registered voters. Each party has more than 5.1 million voters.

“This is a milestone moment in Florida’s history,” said Helen Aguirre Ferré, executive director of the Republican Party of Florida.

Democrats — who once had solid control at all levels of elected office until Republicans won the Legislature and governor’s mansion in the ‘90s — held a substantial edge in voter registration just a few years ago.

During the 2010 midterms, amid the tea party wave and the election of Rick Scott to governor, Democrats had a nearly 568,000 voter advantage. That fell to 264,000 in 2018 when DeSantis barely defeated former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum by more than 32,000 votes to become the state’s 46th governor. Democrats also were ahead of Republicans by more than 134,000 registered voters last year when President Donald Trump comfortably defeated Joe Biden in the state.

DeSantis, who has pushed the Republican Party of Florida to expand its registration efforts and even contributed $2 million to the effort, correctly predicted earlier this month that his party had overtaken Democrats, a factor he attributed in part to people migrating to Florida due to anti-lockdown, anti-mandate policies he pushed during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Democrats are sounding the alarm on how the state of Florida is moving into a conservative stronghold.

According to a report, several Democrats are sounding the alarm about how “bleak” Florida is looking for them.

“It feels a little bit like we’re kind of set up to fail,” an unnamed Florida Democratic official told The Hill. “It’s not anyone person’s fault. A lot of these problems have existed for years. But for a party that has been decimated in the last few elections and especially the last one, I’m not seeing a sense of urgency yet.”

The report details how in 2008, registered Democrats outnumbered Republicans by 700,000 voters.

Today, Republicans only trail registered Democrats by around 23,000.

Steve Schale, a longtime Florida Democratic strategist, is telling Democrats that they could be in huge trouble going forward.

“Without a full-frontal, professional and accountable partisan effort to turn it around, sometime before the end of this year, there will be more Republicans registered in Florida than Democrats,” Schale wrote on his blog.

“That has NEVER happened before. And, given their voters have higher turnout scores — this isn’t a great place to start,” he added.

Republicans are also aware of their massive gains, and they do not plan to slow down.

“In a state like Florida, when you consider that you get 1,000 new residents a day, you really can’t stop. You have to keep going and you have to keep engaging,” said Helen Aguirre Ferré, Republican Party of Florida’s executive director.

Another party leader was even blunter.

“We are going to flip Florida and we’re going to make Florida red permanently,” said Florida GOP State Chair Sen. Joe Gruters.

Democrats in Florida are a minority and that minority is liable to grow once the GOP-controlled legislature begins its redistricting process later this year, leaving them further behind and making it even more difficult for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to keep her iron grip on the lower chamber.

Democrats fear that Republicans will use the state’s massive population growth as a means of eliminating some of their congressional seats.Advertisement

That enormous growth, however, makes it much more likely that Republicans, who control 16 of the state legislature’s 27 seats, are going to be looking hard and fast at paring that down during redistricting in a way that will help lock in a GOP majority for years to come.

As Politico notes, “Gov. Ron DeSantis remade it by appointing several conservative-minded justices, leading to fears that this time around the GOP may have an easier time in crafting a map friendly to them,” though Democrats have said they’ll go back to court again if need be to challenge Republican maps they see as unfair.

One of the districts, Florida’s 13th Congressional, that could go away belongs to current Rep. Charlie Crist, a Republican-turned-Democrat and former governor who is challenging DeSantis next year.

“The Pinellas County district does not have enough voters in it now. Expanding it north would likely bring in more Republican voters and it could probably be done in a way that does not violate Fair Districts,” Politico reported.

(RepublicanWire.org) – He didn’t announce whether he would launch another campaign for the presidency, but former President Donald Trump pledged at his first rally of 2022 that come 2024, “we are going to take back the White House.”

And speaking in front of a sea of supporters gathered at the Country Thunder festival grounds in Florence, Arizona, Trump delivered what sounded like his first stump speech of a possible 2024 campaign.

Trump repeatedly took aim at President Biden, who defeated him in the 2020 presidential election. Trump deemed his successor in the White House “incompetent” and blasted Biden on a wide range of issues, including the coronavirus pandemic, the economy, foreign policy and crime.

While Trump looked ahead to 2024 as well as this year’s midterm elections – he predicted that “a great red wave is going to begin right here in Arizona” and vowed that “this is the year we take back the House, this is the year we take back the Senate” – he spent much of his speech looking back to his 2020 election loss to Biden.

The former president repeated his unfounded claims that the 2020 election was “rigged” and once again claimed that “I ran twice and we won twice.”

It was no surprise that Trump chose Arizona to kick off his first rally of the new year. Besides being a key battleground in the 2022 midterms, with high profile showdowns for Senate and governor, it is also one of a half-dozen states where Biden narrowly edged Trump in 2020 to win the White House.

Last year, a Trump-fueled and GOP-driven partisan audit of votes was conducted in Maricopa County, Arizona’s most populous county. Results of the review found that Trump received a couple of hundred fewer votes than the results from the certified election.

On Deck

Trump’s second rally of 2022 will take place on Saturday, Jan. 29, in Conroe, Texas, which is north of Houston.

The former president’s Save America PAC announced on Friday that the rally would be held at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. It comes one month for primary day in Texas.

A source close to Trump told Fox News that the former president plans to hold roughly two rallies per month going forward.

Trump vs. DeSantis

Did Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis add fuel to the fire in what seems like a burgeoning spat between the popular conservative governor and the former president?

DeSantis has seen his popularity surge among Republican voters in his state and around the nation over the past year and a half, thanks in large part to his combative pushback against COVID-19 restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.

After Trump last week said in an interview that politicians who won’t publicly say whether they’ve received a COVID vaccine booster shot are “gutless” – which was widely seen as a shot at DeSantis –  the governor appeared to return fire Friday in an interview on the popular conservative podcast “Ruthless.”

DeSantis said he should have been “much louder” in trying to convince Trump to oppose lockdowns as the pandemic was sweeping the nation in February and March 2020.

And the governor touted that “when COVID was first coming… I was telling Trump ‘stop the flights from China’ because we didn’t know what we were dealing with.”

DeSantis shut down Florida as the pandemic engulfed the nation, but was also one of the first governors in 2020 to lift coronavirus restrictions.

DeSantis, a former congressman who was narrowly elected Florida governor in 2018 in part thanks to then-President Trump’s support, is running for reelection this year. And he’s polled a consistent – and distant – second to Trump in most of the early 2024 GOP presidential nomination polls.

Asked about his rising popularity among Republican voters nationwide, DeSantis said in his “Ruthless” interview “I think what people see, quite frankly, Republicans, they want to see people actually lead and get things done and fight back. And that’s what we’ve done. We’ve had to do it tooth and nail. We don’t back down from anybody. And we do things. And so, I don’t just wait for things to happen.”

Trump has predicted that if he runs for the White House again, DeSantis won’t run. The governor has deflected when asked about 2024. “It’s way down the road. It’s not anything that I’m planning for,” DeSantis said in a Fox News interview last autumn.https://5112d14361f49db37ba00891f9dcf1ae.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html

And DeSantis blamed the media for talk of any tensions with the former president.

“I think this is what the media does, and you cannot fall for the bait. You know what they’re trying to do. Don’t take the bait, and just kind of keep on keeping on. We need everybody united for a big red wave in 2022,” the governor argued.

2024 poll

A Quinnipiac University national poll conducted Jan. 7-10 and released last week had some tough numbers for both Trump and President Biden.

The president’s approval rating dropped to just 33% in the survey.

And by a 59%-33% margin, those questioned said they wouldn’t like to see Trump run again.

According to the poll, 69% of Republicans want to see Trump run again. But that’s down from 78% who said the same thing in Quinnipiac’s October survey.

(RepublicanWire.org) – One of Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis’ challengers in this year’s gubernatorial race faced significant backlash online on New Year’s Eve over a tweet that some interpreted as a cheap shot at DeSantis, who recently accompanied his wife to her cancer treatment as critics claimed he was missing in action.

“As governor, I’ll show up,” Democrat Nikki Fried tweeted.

Fried’s tweet came after Florida Democrats and others recently suggested that DeSantis had gone missing because, as they claimed, he had not been seen in public in roughly two weeks.

DeSantis’ press secretary, Christina Pushaw, debunked those claims when she tweeted out screenshots of his public schedule that show his activities as governor.

Notable responses to Fried included:

  • Erick Erickson, radio host: “The Governor was with his wife for her cancer treatment. This is gross stuff. He showed up where it mattered most. It kills me I can’t go with my wife to her oncology visits because of hospital guidelines. I’m glad DeSantis was able to be with his wife.”
  • John Cardillo, political commentator: “This trash lowlife knows DeSantis was with his wife at her cancer treatment. Hey @NikkiFriedFL , remember when you showed up at Ft. Lauderdale PD and abused your office to cover the domestic between you and your now fiancé?”
  • Liz Mair, political strategist: “Nikki Fried placing a LOT of bets here that the online left has got it right in claiming DeSantis wasn’t really with his wife for cancer treatment… and I don’t think we have a Sanford situation here so the odds look pretty long for her…Charlie Crist probably thrilled with this tweet and where this could all be headed, quite frankly.”
  • Curtis Houck, editor: “Attacking a guy for going to his wife’s cancer treatments to own the cons[ervatives].”
  • Christina Pushaw, DeSantis press secretary: “But if someone you love gets cancer, you wouldn’t show up to their treatments? Wow.”
  • Travis Wester, political commentator: “Referring to being there for your spouse during her cancer treatment as ‘giving up’ is the kind of cheap shot that makes the vote a referendum on you, not your opponent. Good luck Nikki.”

(RepublicanWire.org) – GOP Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office was among those responding on social media to NY Democrat’s pre-holiday visit

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appeared to get an early start on New Year’s weekend Thursday, according to a report.

The New York Democrat was seen, maskless and drink in hand, as she dined outside in Miami Beach, Florida, the National Review reported. The congresswoman and a companion were spotted at Doraku Sushi and Izakaya, the report said.

The sighting quickly drew snarky reactions on social media.

“You’re being played by @AOC dummies,” one writer claimed, referring to the Democrat’s supporters.

“Hey @AOC tell me you endorse @RonDeSantisFL without telling me you endorse @RonDeSantisFL,” another commenter wrote, referring to Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has been known for coronavirus policies that contrast from many of those in Democrat-run states.

DeSantis’ office also responded on Twitter.

“Welcome to Florida, AOC!” the tweet said. “We hope you’re enjoying a taste of freedom here in the Sunshine State thanks to @RonDeSantisFL’s leadership.”

“P.S. We recommend the Rock Shrimp Roll and the Aoki Tai the next time you decide to dine in Miami. Cheers!,” another tweet said.

Ocasio-Cortez’s pre-holiday trip came as her native New York City was dealing with a record number of first responders calling out sick heading into New Year’s Eve. More than 20% of the city’s police officers and 30% of paramedics were out sick Thursday, city officials said.

Meanwhile, incoming New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who will be sworn in Saturday, said Thursday that he plans to keep in place the current coronavirus restrictions of outgoing Mayor Bill de Blasio, including a vaccination mandate for entering local businesses.

The state of New York also set a new record for coronavirus infections for the second day in a row, reporting more than 74,000 new cases Thursday, according to WNBC-TV of New York City.

Hospitalizations also continued to increase in the Empire State, reaching more than 7,300, the report said.

The number of ICU patients in New York rose to more than 1,000 on Thursday, breaking that mark for the first time since March, the station added.

In Washington, congressional Republicans were asking the U.S. Supreme Court to block President Biden’s vaccine mandate for businesses with 100 or more employees, arguing that Biden and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) were exceeding their authority.

Fox News contacted representatives of Ocasio-Cortez about her Florida trip but received no immediate response to late-night messages.

The state of Florida is celebrating once again with a new bill that was passed that will require all-pro sporting events to begin with the National Anthem. The insanity of the Democrats trying to expel the anthem from public events has led to an anti-American sentiment within their party. The National Anthem is the trademark song that identifies American as a free and independent nation. And for any party to ignore it is to deny being an American.

The move to keep America great is alive and well in Florida. But Ron DeSantis and the state legislature took up the task of requiring all sporting events to begin with the nation’s song. All professional sports teams will have to play the song before every game or risk losing government funding.

The bill follows a bill created in Texas after the Dallas Mavericks stopped playing the anthem before their games. Professional sports seem to want to become political as more and more spoiled players take an anti-American stance on issues around the country.

America is the only place in the world where people facing persecution and tyranny can come to live free truly. But for the liberals that have never tasted the horrors, others are trying to escape; they want to tear down freedom and make America look like the very places that they are trying to escape.

Thomas Gregory is a Republican serving in Florida. He is the patriot that filed the bill to keep professional sports accountable for honoring the country. The United States is a place where people can live free and do what they want, but they still need to support the country or lose their freedom to play professional sports altogether.

Gregory went on to mention that “I haven’t seen any Mark Cuban-type, what I would view as anti-American, protests against our anthem or our flag but I certainly want to make sure that sort of negative activism is avoided, prohibited actually, if they want to do business with the government, and most of them do.”

The official name of the bill is HB 499. It reads, “a governmental entity may not agree with a professional sports team that requires a financial commitment by the state or a governmental entity unless the agreement includes … written verification that the professional sports team will play the United States national anthem at the beginning of each team sporting event held at the team’s home venue or other facility controlled by the team for the event.” It is clear enough that there will not be any questions about what is expected.

The bill in Texas was rightly named the Star-Spangled Banner Protection Act. That bill is already making its way to Greg Abbott’s desk for signing. And no one in their right mind will try and challenge a bill designed around the patriotism of America. Those that would try and strangle the bill would only show that they hate America and do not deserve to live within its borders.

The liberals that are attacking the anthem are doing so behind the scenes. In the case of the Mavericks, they pulled the anthem out of the lineup and went right into the game. Only a handful of people noticed the change and blew the whistle on them.

Once the cat was let out of the bag, the NBA’s Chief Communications Officers Mike Bass had to tell all the teams to start playing the anthem again. The league’s policy was that the anthem be played, but when the Mavericks went rogue and tried to shut it down, people noticed and demanded that something is done. So now, the issue has been written in stone in state law.

Ron DeSantis, with his patriotism, is keeping Floridians free from the onslaught of liberal attacks. And now that a bill is under development, it will not be long before the National Anthem is heard statewide in the Sunshine State.

(RepublicanWire.org) – DeSantis has been a heavy hitter the Republicans have needed for quite some time now. We’re not sure if they forgot to inform him how the conservatives these days are supposed to go along to get along or maybe he’s just ready to take the stand many of us have longed to see. Either way, it’s these tactics that have most Americans headed that way. There are even whispers of Texans ready to trade in their snakeskin boots for a fresh set of alligator duds.

But what, you might ask, would cause Texans to want to leave their beloved Lone Star State? Well, it’s the same thing that has driven many a conscientious homeowner to bemoan the day he labeled himself as “friendly,” … his neighbors came over and overstayed their welcome. In other words, our neighbors to the south are acting like the fish and friends that start to smell after three days, and as if matters couldn’t be made worse than the flood of illegal immigrants that have been careening into Texas society for decades, there is a new attitude between both the immigrants and the people inviting them into the south.

Much like a deluded in-law that continually invites people over to your house, to eat your food and take up your resources without your permission, the federal government has found itself in the comfy position of being able to invite illegals into the country to stay, and place them wherever they want them to go. Now, traditionally Texans have a great relationship with the immigrants that are here to work and make a better life for themselves, but as it stands now, the immigrants being bussed all over the country, for the most part, have their hands stuck out.

But far be it from DeSantis to let that go by him without offering liberals a chance to put their money (and their safety) where their big liberal mouths are. In the most recent press conference DeSantis stated “In yesterday’s budget, I put in $8 million for us to be able to transport people here illegally out of the state of Florida. It’s somewhat tongue in cheek, but it is true, if you sent them to Delaware or Martha’s Vineyard or some of these places, that border would be secure the next day.”

While that’s one of the most accurate statements we’ve heard out of any politician in a very long time, the Dems don’t want the illegals shuttled in any more than the Republicans do. Sometimes in life, people just need a taste of their own medicine and I think DeSantis has the right idea. Even though having droves of illegals being dumped into Martha’s Vineyard doesn’t even compare to the economic drain those illegals put on an already stressful tax burden and supply chain crisis.

“One of the priorities that we’ve been working on for many months now, and we’ll continue to work with the legislature when they get back is dealing with the fallout from the reckless border policies of the Biden administration,” stated DeSantis in the press conference.

And just to add the icing to this red, white, and liberals blue in the face desert, DeSantis is also planning to contract with private businesses to stimulate their economic gain all while pushing illegal immigrants out of his sub-tropical paradise and increasing the number of limited supply goods that will be available for his residents.

Is it a perfect solution? No. An ounce of prevention keeping illegals from entering the nation would be a lot better. However, the pound of cure, in this case, does come with the perk of being able to potentially rub the limousine liberal’s perfectly quaffed noses in the results of their ludicrous and unsustainable policies all while inconveniencing them to the utmost. So not a total loss.
