On any day that ends in “y,” so you can be sure that Minnesota Democrat and known socialist Ilhan Omar said something ridiculous. Recently, Ilhan Omar said a lot of stupid things about Georgia’s new voting laws — but her words became downright offensive when she compared attempts to protect the integrity of the election as being akin to apartheid.

Omar recently spoke out in favor of boycotts of the state, comparing laws that require IDs for mail-in voting and other measures to ensure that votes are legitimate to race-based segregationist policies in South Africa in the 1940s to 1990s. Omar says that boycotts like the one liberals are trying to make work in Georgia are the reason the age of Apartheid ended:

“Our hope is that this boycott will result in changes in the law because we understand that when you restrict people’s ability to vote, you create a democracy that isn’t fully functioning for all of us.”

Ben Carson heard Omar’s words and was rightfully horrified.

“It’s so disgusting that people would try to take something as horrible as Apartheid and try to equate it to this and not to explain it,” he told Fox News. “This is the worst part. They make these accusations, they all get on the bandwagon and they will not sit down and explain it.”

“We’re not each other’s enemies,” Carson reminded Omar. “Trying to create Black victimhood and White guilt does not lead us to a good place.” He also took aim at Joe Biden for calling the new laws “Jim Crow on steroids.”

“It’s very sad that some of our leaders, particularly the leader of the free world would be involved in disseminating information that is untrue. I wonder if these people understand history,” Carson said. “Do they know what Jim Crow laws actually were?”

“They were a mechanism to diminish the rights that many Blacks had gained during Reconstruction and they enforced segregation,” Carson reminds liberals. “The things that people went through in those days were horrendous.”

Unfortunately, trying to compare everything to slavery and other racist policies is the only play liberals have. It’s a pity it works so well.
