As many as 15,000 Americans remain trapped in the Taliban-controlled country of Afghanistan. While Joe Biden and the Democrats assure us that they are doing their best to get our citizens out of the country, those efforts have not exactly materialized. Of the 2,000 people evacuated from Afghanistan in the past 24 hours, less than 300 were Americans.
“What proportion of the 2,000 are American citizens…what proportion are women?” a reporter asked Pentagon spokesman John Kirby on Thursday. Kirby replied that he doesn’t have any statistics on gender even though women should be top priority in an Islamist nation that treats women like garbage. But he says that out of 2,000 who have been rescued, “nearly 300” have been Americans.
Asked how many Americans are still in Afghanistan, Kirby replied that he “doesn’t know.” The Daily Mail reports that Biden is well behind schedule on removing people from the country:
A dozen US Air Force C-17 cargo jets removed 2,000 people from the region overnight – an average of just 160 people per flight, despite the planes being able to carry 600 people – six fewer aircraft than in the previous 24 hours. Since August 14, the US has only removed 7,000 people in total from the region.
They’d promised to lift between 5,000 and 9,000 out per day and there are at least 50,000 waiting to be taken to safety but people are not being processed quickly enough because of manic crowds at the airport’s gates and on the roads, which are being blocked by the Taliban.
Despite reports out of Kabul that the Taliban is blocking entrance and forcing the US military into negotiations over who can get into the airport, Kirby said Thursday that there have been ‘no hostile interactions’ between the insurgents and Americans trying to get to Hamid Karzai International Airport.
“And I think as you also know, not every American citizen in another country – there’s no obligation that they register their presence and that you can have a perfectly accurate count,” Kirby says.
Currently, about 50,000 people are awaiting rescue. But the Taliban is blocking roads to the airports and impeding the removal of Americans from the country despite promises to help Westerners leave. Even ABC journalists with paperwork proving their identities have been blocked from leaving.
Thanks, Biden. You’re entirely to blame for this.
