Americans are suffering and the pandemic is expensive. Taxpayer dollars in the amount of $2.1 billion could do a lot of good. It could get vaccines to people. Feed the hungry. Help hardworking Americans who can’t work because of damaging pandemic restrictions. Help businesses stay afloat. The possibilities are endless — and of all of these countless options, Democrat New York lawmakers decided to give it to illegal aliens.
Receiving the money isn’t hard. All illegals need to do is prove that they live in New York and that they would otherwise be eligible for COVID stimulus checks if not for their immigration status. Then poof — while Americans starve, they will be handed up to $15,600. There’s even a dummy prize for illegals who can’t provide documentation to back these claims — a payment of $3,200.
This could get quite expensive, too. There are about 750,000 illegals living in New York. If every one of them applies for an receives the absolute minimum payment, this could actually cost as low as $2.4 billion. If they all receive the maximum, this could really be as expensive as $11.7 billion. Fox reports:
New York lawmakers struck a deal this week to establish a $2.1 billion coronavirus relief fund for undocumented immigrants and other unemployed workers who were ineligible for federal aid during the pandemic.
The fund, which was announced as part of a broader $212 billion state budget agreement, will offer one-time payments of up to $15,600 to undocumented immigrants who lost their jobs during the virus-induced crisis.
“This nation’s economy has long been built on the backs of our undocumented workforce, and their essential labor that has helped keep our nation running throughout this pandemic,” New York State Sen. Jessica Ramos, a proponent of the fund, said in a statement.
Americans are suffering. Starving. Dying. But as they cry out for help, Democrats in New York decide to turn their backs on their constituents and give much-needed money to people who aren’t even in the country legally. These are people who have no respect for our laws or way of life. People we should be deporting — but instead, we are rewarding them with handsome cash payments. What a world we live in.
