Weather broadcasts are seldom interesting. But a local Fox reporter found a way to defy that rule when she lashed out at her station, KRIV, and its parent company, for “muzzling” her. Ivory Hecker went off script during what was supposed to be a report on the recent heat wave and announced that a “behind the scenes” recording related to “information” the station demanded she not share would soon be released.
“I want to let you, the viewers, know that Fox Corp has been muzzling me to keep certain information from you, the viewers,” Hecker said. “And from what I’m gathering I am not the only reporter being subjected to this. I am going to be releasing some recordings about what goes on behind the scenes at Fox because it applies you, the viewers.”
“I found a non-profit journalism group called Project Veritas who’s going to help put that out tomorrow,” she continued. “So, tune into them.”
To her credit, she did deliver the weather report afterward. Hecker was swiftly suspended. Project Veritas released audio of the phone call.
“I wanted to call you and let you know that you are suspended, effective immediately pending further review,” the voice on the other end of the phone says. “I would ask you not to come to the station, OK? The voice promises to “be in touch.”
“Ok, sounds good,” Ivory says. While she was not immediately fired, it is clear that she will soon no longer have a job. Once again, a conservative voice will be silenced for being brave enough to speak up and tell the truth. Doing the right thing will once again cost someone their job. Welcome to liberal America.
