(RepublicanWire.org) – The Twitter board of directors accepted Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s $43 billion offer to buy all outstanding shares to bring the platform firmly under his control. Twitter was reportedly more receptive to a deal after Musk managed to secure $46.5 billion in financing. MRC President Brent Bozell welcomed the news on Twitter: “Today marks a new milestone in the fight for free speech. For the leftists, just remember you can always make your own platform if you don’t like it.
Leftists on Twitter predictably lost their minds following news that the world’s richest man’s takeover of the platform.
Media analyst Thomas Baekdal’s reaction to the news perfectly summed up the left’s response to the conquering of their censorship-obsessed echo chamber by someone who believes in free speech: “A Twitter owned by Musk is so abhorrent to me that I don’t feel like I can be a part of it. This makes me absolutely furious!” Bakedal, who owns the company Baekdal Media, became unhinged and attacked former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey for supporting Musk’s initial appointment to Twitter’s board: “F*** you,” he sniveled at Dorsey.: “Your definition of free speech is the promotion of hate-speech and harassment where only white entitled men will ever feel safe to engage in public.”
Rob Reiner had a conniption over the possibility that a Musk takeover of Twitter could mean the return of former President Donald Trump, whom the platform banned last year.
“Now that Elon Musk is buying Twitter, the question for all of us is: Will he allow a Criminal who used this platform to lie and spread disinformation to try to overthrow the US Government to return and continue his Criminal activity? And if he does, how do we combat it?”
Former Clinton administration Labor Secretary Robert Reich, who once claimed Musk’s “libertarian view” of an open internet was the “dream of every dictator,” tried to once again paint Musk as a self-serving tyrant.
“Elon Musk’s real goal has nothing to do with the freedom of others. His goal is the freedom to wield enormous power without having to be accountable to laws and regulations, shareholders, or market competition—which is why he’s dead set on owning Twitter.”
Washington Post columnist Max Boot, who apparently is still “frightened” by a Musk takeover, reiterated his fears and said his consolation would be that Musk doesn’t completely nuke Twitter’s censorship apparatus:
“I still fear that having Elon Musk take over Twitter is bad for democracy, as I argued, but I fervently hope he proves me wrong. He can do some good if he cleans out the bots and fine-tunes, rather than jettisons, the content moderation policies.”
Leftist activist Shaun King, of course, had to make Musk’s pending Twitter purchase about so-called “white power.”
Others on Twitter had different reactions and poked fun at the left for their complaining.
