A Texas hospital has decided to suspend a doctor who spoke out against COVID vaccine mandates, in a shocking crackdown on free speech among medical professional who question the legitimacy of vaccine mandates. Dr. Mary Bowden, though her personal social media accounts, recently questioned vaccine mandates and publicly agreed with experts who say that ivermectin is safe for human use.

Texas’ Houston Methodist Hospital said in a statement that Bowden was suspended for spreading “dangerous misinformation” that was “not based in science” when she posted criticisms of vaccine mandates and defended ivermectin. Bowden was suspended on Friday and chose to resign rather than allow the hospital to smear her good name.

“I am flea on the elephant of Methodist,” Bowden said in an interview Tuesday on Houston talk-radio station KTRH-AM. “There is no reason for them to go after me like this. … They are using me to show what’s going to happen to doctors who speak out.”

“I’m not worried about Methodist. It’s not gonna hurt me in terms of patient care. I only needed it just in case I had to put a patient in the hospital,” Bowden, who has successfully treated 2,000 patients with COVID, says. “But I haven’t had anybody in the hospital.”

“There’s a growing tide of people fighting back on these vaccine mandates, so they are trying to suppress people like me from coming out,” Dr. Bowden points out. “If you don’t go with what everybody else is saying, you’re going to get smeared and ridiculed.”
