CPAC Straw Poll Picks Trump As 2024 Nominee

A straw poll conducted at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Sunday revealed that if President Trump chooses to run in 2024, he will likely be the nominee.

Support for the President was impressive at CPAC, with 97 percent of those present saying they approve of President Trump. A whopping 87% say they approve of the job he did as President, and 68% say Trump should run for President again. According to Fox News, if the 2024 GOP primary was held today, President Trump would be chosen to challenge Biden for the Oval Office:

Former President Donald Trump, in results announced Sunday, won the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) straw poll with 55% of attendees saying they’d vote for him if the 2024 GOP primary were today.

Trump got 55% of the vote in the poll in which he was included, with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in second place at 21%.

A poll that didn’t include President Trump placed DeSantis in the lead with 43% of the vote, but it is clear that people are overwhelmingly behind the President. This poll has South Dakota Governor Kristy Noem in second with 11% and Donald Trump Jr. in third with 8%.

Republicans who oppose Trump did very poorly. Mitt Romney got .3% of the votes, while Maryland Governor Larry Hogan earned .1%.

“Look, you’re not going to get the Republican nomination being a never-Trumper,’ says American Conservative Union President Matt Schlapp. “You’re not going to get the Republican nomination if you’re not a strong conservative. So all of that kind of courting, it’s appropriate that it starts at CPAC.”

Though some in the Republican Party oppose President Trump, CPAC has made it clear that, as Schlapp says, we won’t get anywhere if we oppose Donald J. Trump.
