Big Bird joined the growing list of celebrities pushing vaccine propaganda — but his was aimed entirely at impressionable children. On Saturday, the beloved children’s character’s Twitter account sent out a message announcing that Big Bird has gotten the COVID jab — a hot-button issue that has tempers flaring as Joe Biden and the Democrats push vaccine mandates on the rest of us. But conservatives absolutely ravaged Sesame Street and its large avian mutant after Big Bird pushed vaccine propaganda on kids.
“I got the COVID-19 vaccine today! My wing is feeling a little sore, but it’ll give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy,” Big Bird’s tweet says. He then credits CNN “journalist” Erica Hill for telling him he’s “been getting vaccines since [he] was a little bird. The tweet, of course, fails to mention that these vaccines were entirely different than standard childhood vaccination and carry health risks and side effects that have not been adequately studied.
Big Bird has indeed been getting vaccinated since at least 1972, but the rest of the tweet is just sick.
“I called it yesterday on Tucker Carlson Tonight with @willcain that Big Bird was going to get canceled so fast unless he gets vaxxed,” Fox News columnist Karol Markowicz said of the tweet. “Elmo, you’re next.” But of course, Elmo can’t get vaccinated according to his tweet.
“Government propaganda…for your 5 year old!” Senator Ted Cruz said. Political commentator Stephen Miller informed the bird, “You’re not real and can’t catch Covid.”
Florida House of Representatives candidate Lavern Spider savaged the “propaganda,” calling it what it is: “evil.”
Forcing this disgusting propaganda on children is enough to make us wonder why Sesame Street still receives public funding. Your tax dollars are paying for a large yellow mutant bird to tell your kids that you don’t know what’s best for them and that the COVID vaccine is what they need. Everyone behind this show should feel ashamed — but we all know they won’t.
