Mehmet Oz, a medical entrepreneur and television host who is now running for US Senate in Pennsylvania, said he would like to see Anthony Fauci removed as director of the National Institute Of Allergy And Infectious Diseases. Fauci has held this post since 1984.

While being interviewed Oz said, “Dr. Anthony Fauci has lost the faith and confidence of the American people. It’s time for a new face talking to the American people, one that is more trusted.”

As the head of the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Fauci faced immense scrutiny from Americans when he contradicted or shifted positions on a number of guidelines including wearing or not wearing protective masks.

He went on to say,“I believe Anthony Fauci should be held accountable for misleading, whether willfully or unintentionally, the American public and the United States Congress,”  on matters relating to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Some Republicans, like House GOP conference chair Rep. Elise Stefanik has called for Fauci to be prosecuted on charges of lying about his knowledge of the  virus  when he testified before Congress last year.

Fauci is still in good standing with President Biden as his chief medical advisor, even after making false statements about vaccines during an October hearing.
