Remember that popular movie from the early 2,000s where two helicopters are downed during a rescue mission in Somalia and solders are forced to struggle to survive? Great film, right? It was such a good movie that even Joe Biden, with his clear and present cognitive malfunctions, remembers it. In fact, he remembers it so well that Biden refused to rescue trapped Americans because of this 2002 movie. Though the movie was based on a true story, Biden worried not about the lives of our soldiers (18 died in the real-life Black Hawk Down tragedy), but that he might look bad.
Thousands and thousands of Americans — a number the Biden Administration refuses to disclose — are still trapped in Afghanistan, and not just in the Kabul airport where Biden is failing to evacuate them. The Taliban are blocking roads to the airport and, according to numerous verified reports, beating Americans in the streets. But Biden refused to send our soldiers out into those streets to rescue said Americans. All because he watched that classic movie and he was afraid that a similar situation might develop. Because if that happened, it might make him look bad (as opposed to how good giving a terrorist group an entire country, complete with an air force, we guess). The Daily Mail reports:
In a video conference last week, the president also negatively commented on how quickly the Afghan government fell apart and told commanders he wanted them to be focused on beefing up security at the airport.
During the call, the president alluded to the ‘Black Hawk Down’ tragedy of the Somali Civil War, which saw 18 US personnel killed.
In 1993, US forces tried to capture key allies of Somali general Mohamed Farrah Aidid. Adid had overthrown President Mohamed Siad Barre’s socialist government.
During the raid, 18 Americans and two United Nations soldiers were killed after two Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters were shot down by RPGs.
Ultimately, after facing pressure for his refusal to rescue Americans in trouble, Biden authorized rescue mission. But his petty refusal to do anything to help when it mattered most is something that should be remembered and investigated. We deserve to know how many Americans were hurt or killed as a result of Biden’s desire to protect his ego.
