Joe Biden either has memory issues or he is willing to lie while promoting his agenda. While on a visit to Woodstock, New Hampshire to promote his wasteful disaster of an infrastructure bill, Biden got sidetracked while talking about the importance of bridges to American society. In a weird brag, Biden claimed that his house burned down with his wife inside — except it didn’t.
“And I know, having had a house burn down with my wife in it, she got out safely, God willing, but having a significant portion of it burn, I could tell 10 minutes makes a hell of a difference. It makes a big difference,” Biden said. This, of course, was a lie. Washington Post fact checker Glenn Kessler pointed out that it was actually a small kitchen fire that was dealt with swiftly.
In 2004, lightning struck the couple’s Delaware home causing a small fire in the kitchen. Jill Biden called the fire department, but they dealt with it long before the house was in danger of burning. Firehouse reports:
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the house, but were able to keep the flames from spreading beyond the kitchen, said Cranston Heights Fire Company Chief George Lamborn.
“Luckily, we got it pretty early,” he said. “The fire was under control in 20 minutes.”
No one, of course, was injured and the house was saved. Biden has previously told more accurate versions of the story, leading us to wonder why he suddenly lied about it. Perhaps the real story — the one in which there was a minor weather-related fire and no one was hurt — is no longer tantalizing enough for liberals. Or, perhaps, Biden’s mind is so far gone that he doesn’t remember the details.
